So my son's umbilical cord wasnt really drying. But it fell off today (and the stump is wet wet, not like my older son's who's was dry as anything by the time it fell off).
Any problem?
Anything I have to do now, or just say gezunteheit?

is it all off or is part of it still there?
by my babies I remember there was a drop there and I went to the pediatrition and he said some leave it and some would remove it but we decided to leave it (and keep an eye for redness that could be an infection) and it later fell off completely itself)

All mine lost theirs when they were still wet at about 4-5 days. The mohel told us to put some betadine drops on it to prevent infection (they seep a little when still wet), they dried and healed pretty quickly. I think I did it about 3 times a day.

What is betadine? Do you think I should put rubbing alcohol on it?

Betadine is that funny yellow stuff you put on the bris...iodine based, I believe. It stains. You could also use rubbing alcohol.

Could be that is what is in the dropper bottle the mohel gave me. An unlabeled bottle with a brown staining liquid inside...

Sounds like it... Our mohel had it on the list of supplies to buy; I think we had Dr. Fischer brand.

if you see it isn't healing after a few days it might need cauterization.

How do I know? Its kinda an inny... Meaning, theres a rim that sticks out, but where the stump was attached is inside- I'd have to look inside the belly buttom with something to see if its healed, I'm not quite sure how to do that...
