Do you have to? If so, how?

Never bought them before.

Note #1: This post is for people who check many fruits and vegetables for bugs (e.g., strawberries).

Note #2: I live in America.

I'm assuming the bottoms are fine, but would you have to cut off the tops?

Dh says to cut the leaves. If you eat without the skin, you peel it. If you eat with the skin, you wash it under the faucet.
Always ask your rav as most people don't have a "family way" for such fruit!

it is pretty similar to a nectarine or peach I think. Do you check those?

btw they are also known as sharon fruit. And I have some now labelled as kaki fruit (!!!!) hope my kids don't spot that!

It's called kaki here too, like the colour.

According to harav Vaye, THE expert on bugs, they're usually bugless so no need to check.
You do have to remove the leaves plus cut away a bit of the fruit underneath the leaves.

The black spots inside the fruit are NOT a sign of infestation.
