I think you start out by saying anyone five feet should weigh 100lbs and you add five pounds for every inch...I am five ten and am 140 so I am just five pounds shy of ideal body weight.

However, if you're petite it'll be less...and there's no "should be's" anymore, it's all BMI's etc.
I'm five three and spent most of my life at 102 - 108 and no one ever encouraged me to gain!

That is based on a small frame not a med or large frame.

I hate those charts that say 100 for 5 feet...it's all based on BUILD really. I'm 5-1 and I'm NOT 105 and I'm NOT overweight.
According to Body Mass Index, healthy weight for a person who is 5-4 should be between 110-144.
Under 110 is underweight.
145-173 is overweight
174+ is considered obese.
Don't obsess. Realize everyone is built differently and you just need to eat healthy & exercise and try to be in the healthy range.

I don't know how accurate those numbers can be !!?
They do not even mention if it's for men OR women !
That could be a big difference.
Are the numbers slightly high, for women ?

AFAIK, BMI does not take gender into consideration. I view the three colums to mean small, medium, and large frame.

Okay, thanks for clarifying.
I thought M/F had different BMIs.

Those numbers notwithstanding, anyone gaining or losing a large amount of weight over a short time is a red flag for trouble.
I had gotten up to 139 lbs from a post pregnancy 117 lbs over a couple of years and whereas it's only borderline obese, the dr insisted I lose it if I could.
I did and I'm much healtheir and happier.

Sara g- your doctor told you you were borderline obese and 117 pounds??? I guess if you are used to being 102 it would seem obese!

You don't have to go to the meetings. You can spend around $50.00 and buy the kit which comes with a scale. One of my friends did this to lose 10lbs for a wedding and boy she looked AMAZING when it came time for the wedding.

Mitzvah Mom - if you order the WW stuff online you pay $40 or so 1 time & then you don't have to pay for meetings every week. I did it. If you have the will power to work alone, it's a great diet.

$40 is quite a bit of money... I try to save up for things, but I usually end up needing to purchase shoes or clothing for the kids...

I was 108 when I got married.
Five lbs from each of two pregnancies and I was 118.
THEN I gained.....I was up to 139.and THEN I was borderline obese.
