According to this source, now there are Rabbonim who think grapes are infested and must be washed and checked one by one. I read over the statement -- what kinds of bugs? Any one taking this seriously (yet)?

that doesnt make it assur, that just makes it neccessary to wash them , whilst rubbing under a strong flow of water with the hands or a sponge.
it is not shayach to me since grapes arent really sold here in the winter

Rubbing individual grapes under a stream of water is much more work, since I would usually just rinse a whole bunch simultaneously.

NYC water was paskened tref unless filtered through a micron filter; consequently, nothing but nothing surprises me any more. I can foresee a time when no produce will be deemed acceptable unless pureed, filtered and cooked.

Anyone who is 1) honest and 2) involved in hasgacha will tell you that there is 100% no way to avoid eating bugs. Packaged products like tomato sauces and ceareals have bugs in the all the time. And there are a certain number of bugs allowable per box before the product loses its hechsher. But even the mashgichim in the factories know that you can never and will never achieve 100% bug free food. So rather than deem everything assur, they've just lowered the standard to allow 'some' bugs into our food.
Why people are stressing about grapes is so beyond me...My goodness.
