is it allowed? I have a huge pile of practically all dh's shirts that I haven't had the time to take care of.

As far as I remember it's even more of a problem than laundry, because it gives that final finish. If you need shirts for Shabbos you should ask a LOR. He is definitely not allowed to wear an ironed shirt which wasn't pre-worn, except on Shabbos.

We hold that were not allowed to iron. If I need kids clothing I'm allowed to wash but I'm not allowed to iron them.
