One person wrote the hotels are from the shul and one wrote down the road. Is'nt that a contradiction?

it's just under 2 miles from one of the shuls to a Holiday Inn Express, straight down the road. a 6 minute drive, according to Google Maps. its a bit of a walk for Shabbos, but pretty much nothing on a weekday. a little past the hotel is a shopping center with a large Wegmans and other stores.

Rochester won't work for Shabbos. Any other ideas closer to NYC then Buffalo?

I'm planning to drive down to niagara from upstate new york. Will I pass rochester? What is there? And where else can I stop on way without kids?
