We're looking at a house with a steep communal drive. Who is in charge of shoveling it?

Are you renting or buying? Rental usually the property manager or owner. If you are buying you usually share responsibility with the other neighbor who shares it, at least from what I've seen.

On our drive it is completely shared responsibility for all the driveway. So, the answer to the question is whoever is nicest. (well that was the answer last time we had snow). If there's money associated with shared land maintenance it will be well articulated in the house documents how the responsibility is shared, if not you should speak to the current occupier or the neighbours as it won't be the same everywhere.

From our driveway to the street, we clear. The people behind us are on their own and depend on havirum.

thanks everyone- just to clarify- it's a communal driveway, not a shared driveway. The entire block has garages behind their houses and there is one long communal driveway to access them. There is no "fee" or any sort of money for it...
