I am going to ask a question about which I have been unsure forever. Are you supposed to tip your shaitel macher or not? Does it matter if the person owns the salon? What about if it is just a single girl? What if it is an employee in a shop owned by someone well known? If you should tip, how much is appropriate?
Thanks!

If she owns her own business, then no.

My sheital macher owns her business, so I haven't tipped her (some business owners do accept tips happily nowadays, but it isn't really standard).
I've never been to a sheital macher in a shop/salon or who works for someone else, but certainly hairdressers who are not self-employed (and some who are) do expect tips. 15% is about right; somewhat less for the assistant.
