My husband's birthday is coming up and I wanted to get him a coffemaker since he really likes coffee in the morning. There are so many different brands and so many different price ranges. Are the expensive ones better? If the good ones are really only 20-30$, I guess I'll have to think of another gift.
Any advice on coffee machines?

I don't drink coffee but here are a few places I look when I'm trying to find products. Take the reviews with a few grains of salt especially when they said they just got it yesterday.
1. amazon.com
2. epinions.com
3. consumersearch.com -they also review the reviewers. I've gotten a lot of excellent help here.

We are BIG coffee drinkers here. I like a thermal pot b/c it keeps the coffee hot for hours without having a burner on. Mr. Coffee brand had the least expensive programmable (so we can set it up the night before) thermal coffee maker.
Another benefit with a thermal pot is that it isn't glass and I haven't broken it! We have had this one for 2 years now and still LOVE it.

Yes, it stays fresh because instead of a glass carafe, it is contained within a stainless steel thermos.
It stays hot for a long time too. I have had the coffee 6-8 hours later and it is warm, but not cold.
