I get tired of seeing all these requests
who are we to know them best
take a dictionary off the shelf
learn to write a poem by yourself

abc ~ 123
I love you & you love me
but picture if I told your bubby
thank you for the brand new buggy

thanking someone from the heart
is the very best place to start
soon enough you'll get to writing
a poem or note will be exciting

You may be wrong, you may be right
But for some it could take all night!

So how hard is it to help out
If you know what rhyme's all about? LOL

To sum it all up, in reply to both posts, but primarily to Greenfire,

You think the crooner from Jackson 2+3
Who sang ABC 123 I love you and you love me
Actually himself had to pen the song
Else to sing it was on some level morally wrong?

But takeh I may be right or wrong
And you may be right I may be crazy
But I'm with amother below I think it's nice
And I don't think the askers are lame or lazy.

(But I do appreciate your encouraging thoughts
Homemade is always superior to "bought".)

to write a note is not a crime

Not everyone is so quick...
The words themselves have to click...
But I agree that writing from the heart...
Is always a good start...

Personally, I did find...
Writing poems I never mind...
Though it loses all the fun...
When there is stress and the pressure is on...

I will give you a little advice...
(Just to prove that I am nice)...
Nobody will think of you any less...
If you aren't a "poem-writing" genius...

When you don't know what to write...
Please don't fret over it all night...
Don't waste your energy and time...
Write a few words that DON'T RHYME!!

PSA: I am not a licensed "Rhymer". Please do not take the above statements as a professional opinion.

the amount of time is the same to write down a prose
regardless if you come up with your own or plagiarize

I set a little poem afloat
Sincere words that I had wrote
For a gift I sent a friend of mine

It sailed the seas
Caught every breeze
And passed from hand to hand for a long time

Some years have passed
And now at last
This circle has indeed become complete

A cousin dear
To show her care
Has gifted me my own words oh so sweet...

Greenie, I love you AND your verse!

Funny, youngishbear, I was only recently wondering if one day someone might email me a clip from one of my own old imamother posts. And if I recognized it, would I be amused or annoyed?

Hey, it could happen. People send me antique Internet humor and rusty PSA's all the time. Those things have circled the globe countless times.

I have to second what amother stated...
For us it may seem overrated...
But to the non writers out there..
Having to write something may be their biggest fear..

So if it only takes you..
A minute or two...
Chap a mitzvah, help out one another...
You can even do mattan baseiser by going amother!

See, now this is where I differ. If I know that a person is a nonwriter and she suddenly sends me a clever poem, I just know she had a ghostwriter. I prefer the genuine sentiments of the genuine person. I like to see a bit of effort, even if it's less than exquisite. Yes, I LIKE to get a kid's TY note with eraser smudges--it shows me the kid worked at it. And I like to get a mildly incoherent note from a nonwriter, not a facile couplet or even a sensitive sonnet dashed off by a third party, precisely because I know it took sweat and tears to produce.

How much effort does it really take to say "Dear Mrs. Hungadunga, I hope you like this Kirschentorteklanger. I bought it for you because you do so many nice things for us. Happy Chanuka, Love, Sheindy Schmelkin'? That's all you need. Not cutesy, not clever, just plain and simple.

Don't get your panties in a twist
From arguing you may desist
The world is full of varied folk
Some like to rhyme, some like to joke,
Some hate to write, some hate to speak
Let's share our strengths where others are weak!

OK, Mrs. H. Now that we know that Kirschenthingy floats your boat
to where would you like us the package to tote?
