It's not mandatory so stop having heart attacks if you want to do it, do it. No one is saying that this is something you should be doing. And $50 it's a lot of money for a lot of people, but for a lot of people it's not. So everyone just do what works for you

The problem becomes the upward pressure. No one wants to be the person who can't/doesn't do it while everyone else is.

We gave 26 family MM (not kid/student). Almost all we delivered.
One family gave my son 2 quarters.
Ladies- no, many people do not do this! We definitely don't!
(I do know someone else in my community whose son got a total of $7... but that family is very established here and well-known for their incredible chesed and work for the tzibur. Maybe they deliver to more affluent people? And they probably deliver many more MM!)
