Some do and some don't! Unfortunately we don't have the societal restraints that used to exist but people are shamed when something embarrassing occurs. For example, I don't think that anyone feels proud about a family member going to jail. They might invent an excuse to tell the world but they are ashamed of it.

Op here so then second question should we be hiding our shame I'm not saying to c"v broadcast it but atleast when it is addressed deal with it.

There were always shameless people, but generally as SB said society was MUCH MUCH more restrictive, I think we cannot even begin to imagine. It used to be shameful to go barefoot in your shoes, or to eat in the street when my mother was a child (she is 51). So they hid to avoid trouble, not necessarily shame.
