Why do you call it chassidish?
Haven't seen them in years, but here in England we used to get them in marks and Spencer. Definitely not a chassidish store ;-)
Maybe they still sell them, check online, they do international delivery.

Can someone please explain to me the purpose of a chassidishe slip? And why would one need/want one? Is it a requirement?

My mother wore one back in the day. It served as a layer on top so that your clothes didn't stick , was not see through and prevented bra lines from showing.
Unfortunately today lots of that sensitivity towards these things has been lost. I believe it got its name because at the time Chasidish women were the ones makpid with that. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Even when I was little we wore full slips, winter ,summer, spring and fall. I have not seen girls wearing those things in years.
I also think that many women wear shells and half slips nowadays.

I wear it instead of a shell.
The ones I own are a shell on top and slip on bottom.

Isn't it a bit like a shell dress? Which I think are a good idea but they dont work for me because nursing in a dress/one piece slip isn't practical

Funny Ive worn a full slip a few times and only when I want to look and feel s-xy, which makes me wonder if the full slips I have are modern orthodox, like me!

Lol -- Is that like a Freudian slip?
I have found full slips in dept stores.
I find it amusing that chassidish women think this is a chassidish garment.
Mine makes me think of Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

It’s calked a full slip. A half slip looks like a skirt, usually with a slit. Do a search they are available widely.
They are often found by the lingerie (they can be quite s*xy)

I've seen skirt slips but it's not common and very older. Full slip I'd never accept.

A chassidish slip is a full top and bottom slip that comes with long sleeves.
