My husband loves the tomato dip I can get in the store, but I hate buying it because it only lasts a few days in the fridge and we never finish it before it goes bad.
Wondering if anyone has a good recipe so I can make it at home? At least I won't be throwing as much money down the drain if I don't spend the $$$ on the store bought version..
thanks!

2 tomatoes, one clove garlic , quarter to a half cup oil, 1 T salt, pepper, crushed red pepper. The amount of spices depends on how spicy you like it.
This make a little more than a 16 Oz container.

Run it in the blender/food processor for 7-10 minutes to get that creamy store-bought texture

Oh sorry, I forgot the directions. Run all ingredients in blender or food processor for at least ten minutes.

Maybe if you have a ninja or the like you need less time. This is for a regular food processor.

I do one clove garlic per large tomato, oil, salt. Pepper if you like it spicy. Blend for 7-10 minutes.

I use way less oil and I don't blend it as long. It's still very good, you don't need that much oil. I only blend for a minute - it's not super creamy but not bad either.

The longer you blend it the better consistency it has. And the color changes from red to orange.

So that explains how it gets orange! I was always wondering why by most people it’s orange and mine is bright red- which I thought made sense- as red as the tomatoes.
I do it with a hand blender so I don’t get it so fine it stays red and then I strain the watery part so it stays thick and not so runny.
I add drop of oil , salt and 1 clove of garlic.I don’t like it too spicy. I use 5-6 tomatoes and get 3/4 of 16 oz container about.

I do the same as the posters above, but just add a half of a fresh jalapeno pepper.
I do it with a hand blender and only for a couple of minutes and comes out great.
