I'm a lap swimmer, so I do wear a regular bathing cap. But they're not particularly comfortable to wear all day around a pool. So people are looking for alternatives for splashing around.
FTR, when I'm not lap swimming, I wear a baseball cap, even in the water.

Me. They were so annoying. And the old bubbies would wear the ones with the big flowers on top.
