I think you need to choose between medical and frum amenities. You're not going to get a big selection of both in either of those states. They have smallish to very small frum communities, nothing like what you said you are looking for. So you'll need to prioritize.

I have kids in both states. Good medical care exists in both and good yeshivas too. I don't know what the choices are regarding vaccine exemptions.

Not saying there aren't good yeshivas. But she specified "lots" and there just isn't that many.

As the saying goes, whenever you go, there you are.

You are bringing with you a certain resistance to current medical practice. The thing is that hospitals have doctors and doctors are generally committed to mainstream medicine.

If your child really had an allergic reaction to a vaccine, you'd be able to get a medical exemption.

I doubt you're going to find what you want unless you're going to go off the grid in northern Idaho somewhere, and the yeshiva situation there is non-existent.

I sometimes wonder why groups of frum Jews don't try to build new communities where the housing is cheaper and nobody cares how much secular education they get.
If there are religious exemptions to vaccines in a state, the question would be about the obligation of private schools to honor them.

Not true. See California as exhibit #1, soon to come to another state near you

Southern bubby, private schools do not have to accept religious exemption.

You are so blind just like manny others. For your information my kids are vaccinated but I do have some kids who had allergic reaction to vaccines and can no longer get medical exemptions. It’s not choice as you see. You are lucky like many others to have kids who are strong and don’t react badly to vaccines so you can go on and blabber with your big mouth.
For those who are sleeping I will briefly describe: NYC is planning to release 900 prison inmates and close the prison down. There is bucket list of assaults that will not be taken seriously, police are being disrespected ..... curtesy of Cuomo
They are adding mandated Flu and HPV vaccine for all vaccine lovers out there. The more the better.
There is more. Google it.

Yes, yes I am the blind one. Whatever you say. 🙄

I feel bad that this issue has become so polarized that many innocent people have gotten hurt. One of my children had a ME but probably would not have gotten one today. Maybe it wouldn't have harmed him to get more vaccines but the doctor wouldn't take the chance and the folks at the CDC in Atlanta agreed. Such children today would either be excluded from school or would be at the possible risk of another vaccine reaction.

Somehow this dialog needs to change so that the public is protected from outbreaks but individual medical needs are weighed in.

There is a big variation depending on exactly where you go. I don't know about Connecticut, but Philadelphia has good hospitals, Doctors, etc, and several frum communities in and around the city proper. As far as amenities ... there is nowhere like NYC. You can find everything you need in Philadelphia, but you have limited options for Yeshivas, kosher food, shuls, etc. Kosher food is a bit more expensive, but cost of living generally is MUCH cheaper. You also have to consider lifestyle changes - if you are living without a car in NYC, you may not find it feasible outside of NYC. You won't have such easy access to public transport or kosher groceries - everything is more of a shlep. I am having this debate with my DH, who doesn't want to give up the NYC convenience and options, while I am seeing that we can't continue to afford living in Brooklyn, and it's a worthwhile tradeoff, in my opinion, to move to Philadelphia area.

As far as medical stuff ... I don't think there is any place where Doctors are less likely to be pushy - that's just a medical system problem. As you already know, it's possible to find Dr.s that are suitable to your needs, but it can be hard - anywhere you go. If you want to do differently than "Standard Medical Protocol", you will be in for a battle. As for vaccines ... a little research can tell you whatever you want to know.
