Sometimes the day after I exercise, parts of my skin around the muscles that I exercised become sore. This isn't muscle pain, it's skin pain. Is it normal?

Are you asking about the skin that was touching the weights? Or all the skin near all the muscles that were exercised? (Like your palms of your hands or the whole arm and shoulders etc)
If it's your hands, maybe it is a callous forming like when you start to play guitar, your tops of your fingers that press on the strings get sore and eventually become calloused like the sides of your heels of your feet.

Skin over the muscles, not skin that comes in contact with an object.

Can it be something like chafing from the inside?

Are you sure it’s not muscle pain?

It's definitely not muscle pain. It's very different.
