Thanks all for your responses!
Wow deal really does sound great. But ocean place is waaaaay our of my league. Is there any other nice hotel nearby? And if I’m willing to drive- is there any recommendation for a quieter beach in the vicinity?

Thank you

Berkeley hotel is also a very nice hotel and cheaper than ocean place. I don't think you'll find a quiet beach this time of the year.

I didn’t read the whole thread but my DH and I stayed at the Molly Pitcher Inn in Red Bank and had a great time. The town is cute and walkable, and on the water. Around a half hour from Deal so we went there for lunch. If you need Shacharis then check where Is the closest to there and I guess do the walking around town the night before. Also the pool was empty when we went (also this time of year).

Deal or lkwd area could work. There is canoeing or downstream canoeing for more adventure.
Save the beaches for the evening. Daytime there are no quiet beaches.
Visit a lighthouse.
Great food
Rent bikes at a park
Rent a pool

Maybe try Seagate.
As a gated community the beaches should not be as busy.

Plenty busy there too

Why does everyone go to lake George in the summer if it’s by the water? Isn’t it a problem for men to see women not dressed properly by the water?

We went to Lake George and only visited the beach at night. At the other water sports locations, it's easy to avert eyes when simply standing on line.

This is very helpful.

Where can I rent "bikes at a park" near Lakewood? Is there a nice pathway to ride the bikes?

What's there to see in a lighthouse? Is it interesting? Thinking of taking teen DC

Where can we do canoeing (not downstream) near Lakewood?

Yes. There are some nice hotels in Spring Lake. Try the Hewitt Wellington.

For canoeing near Lakewood, check out: https://princetoncanoe.com/
We've done it twice and highly recommend it. Very calm and gentle waters.

No one talks about virus status? Not sure if hotels operate! Or if they are safe.
Elevator with many strangers?
I know Lakewood restaurnats are not offering indoor dining (law does not allow) -
time to rethink options for this year maybe?
Beaches - Shmiras Ha Eynaim? Husband would go to a beach? Wife would consider suggesting it?

ManaSquam reservoir has had bike rentals in past. Not sure this year. Call first due to virus.

It’s also a nice area for walking.

Also dukes gardens. It is a drive from Lakewood. But there is cheap bike rentals and gorgeous peaceful fields for biking. - ETA: closed due to virus

For canoeing
Princetoncanoe above

Or look up pine barrens down stream canoeing. There are a few options.

In Toms River or Atlantic City you can rent pontoons on the water.

Lighthouse - barnegat bay lighthouse. Nothing too exciting. But nice trip. Climb up and down and then paths to walk along the water.

You can look up other lighthouses. There are a few along the shore.

There is also some really nice hiking within short drives. We love finding new places every week.

There are tons of beautiful outdoor dining options.

(I agree about the beach. I would only go close to it after 6 ).

There are different threads for all points you mentioned.
Not every thread needs to turn into a covid or hashkafa debate.

Everyone can take care of themselves thank you very much. Hotels are operating and the world is going on.
