Hi,
I am writing this to help anyone trying relentlessly to reach a unemployment representative to iron out their unemployment claim
When you call this number
Follow the prompts
Press 1 for English
Press 9 for main menu
Press 2
It will ask you for your social security number. Makeup a new social security number 132-xxx-xxxx
They will process to ask you to create a 4 digit pin code for your new claim.
Then you will go through the process creating a “new claim”
After answering a series of questions through the automated service you will be transferred to a live person.
Then you can go ahead and give your real social security number to get help in whatever respect you need in regards to your legitimate claim.
Disclaimer; I am sharing this because after days upon days of calling constantly following the usual phone prompts I couldn’t get through to anyone live.
I was able to get someone to help me process my entire claim successfully.
I hope this can help anyone of you guys.

Wow. I just yesterday heard someone doing the same, for the same reason. Bh that person got through and got their problem solved. That person said, for existing claims they don't pick up phones, only for new claims. So that's a way to get a representative pick up.

Aww I wish I would have figured it out sooner as well I literally typed it up on here while I was on the phone with them so as to spare anyone the exhaustion and stress.
Also-to add to my initial post, it took me two tries. First time I spoke to a representative who didn’t know what he was doing and told me I have to talk to a “specialist” to register for backpay. He told me he will have t have a representative call me back next week. This gave me more stress thinking that they will most likely know call me when I’m in the shower on Monday🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I called again. Went through the same process mentioned above. And finalllly got through to the kindest woman who took care of everything.
So please don’t give up dear women, be persistent and you shall prevail

Just tried and after I made the “new claim” it said I need to answer some questions and then it said that I can’t apply until Monday August 3. Then it hung up.

Try again. Until it works.
I know it’s so so frustrating. But don’t give up. And if it doesn’t work today try again tomorrow. I wouldn’t wait til Monday.

OP, I want to thank you again. Your instructions got me through to them. Finally!!
When I spoke with the rep he said he can't do anything about certifying for backpay and proceeded to give me another number to call. I knew that number is the automated line so asked how I can talk to a person live. He then connected me to 3rd level department where I was bH helped.

Thanks to a wonderful poster here I called on a Sunday morning at like 8:45 and got through on the second try. I don’t have the number, but maybe someone else here has it? It was posted a few times. I didn’t have to go through all the steps in the OP. I put in my regular info.

For nj call the regular # on Sunday morning! Many ppl have gotten through on Sunday mornings. Keep trying if you don’t get through.

When they ask you questions on the automatic line, say "don't know " and then it automatically says, "no problem, we can connect you to a human being" (not thexact words) and eventually you get a live person

They didn't let me on and said they can't help me because I tried to get through using someone else's social security number. After 20 min
