Obviously it will depend a lot on the specific sukkah, but what do people think? Is a sukkah more like being indoors for covid purposes or more like being outdoors?

Rabbi Dr. Glatt is of the opinion that Sukkahs are more like being indoors and recommends the same controls/precautions for Sukkah visits as he does for indoor visits.

I think it does depend on the sukkah a bit- a bigger sukkah is obviously better than a smaller one, but still closer to being inside than outside

If your sukkah has lattice walls, it's more like being outside.

Or just make sure that it is you and your immediate family (those that live in the same house as you) in the sukah together and nobody else and then it really shouldnt make any difference.

Even if you are outside, you still need to social distance.

If you are sitting close to people without masks then there it is a higher risk situation. Just because there is some ventilation doesn't mean that you wouldn't be exposed to someone who you are interacting with who isn't wearing a mask.

People at social events tend to also interact in a more exuberant manner and so therefore the droplets and aerosols are moving greater distances and there is more of them being expelled than with quiet breathing behind a mask.

So having a meal with those you don't live with is more high risk.
