DD (14) is in pain from under her ears to the bottom of her chin. It sounded like tmj to me but it’s not since the actual jaw joint doesn’t hurt or click. We saw the doctor, dentist, oral surgeon. She had X-rays done but no one seems to know what is wrong. I have some more appointments scheduled for her but I’m not too hopeful that anyone will know what this is. She is in constant pain aside for when she’s sleeping. Very hard to see your child suffering for almost 2 weeks...

Does it jab or stab? Is it on one side or both? It could be trigeminal neuralgia.
Are there any ear symptoms? Dizziness, vertigo, hearing changes?
Is the pain constant or triggered by anything in particular (like chewing or talking or brushing teeth)?

I had trigeminal neuralgia, which affects the nerve that carries feeling from the brain to the face. It went away on its own. A doctor may want to do a full neurological assessment, including scans. Usually it's nothing more than an annoyance that flares up once in a while.
Hope she feels better soon.

It’s a constant, strong pain and hurts much more when she eats and talks. This actually happened for the first time around 9-10 months ago but the pain stopped eventually.

So it really could be a nerve flare-up. I would see a neurologist.

Two other options:
I had severe TMJ and my jaw didn’t hurt and there was no clicking. Is your dentist a TMJ expert?
Like others said, could be trigeminal neuralgia
Aside from that, it could also be migraine.
Yes, it really, really good
So you need an excellent TMJ dentist and a good neurologist and they should find it...

I had similar pain. Was told I have trigeminal nueralgia. Went on meds.
A little while later I started suffering from vertigo/dizziness, and dental problems needing root canals etc.
Went from 1 specialist to another. What helped me was getting fit for a dental night guard. It relieves pressure from the joint, and my dental issues & dizziness went away as well bh!
