You don't have to allow anyone to take your pic. Just say NO. Claim that you were once hospitalized with PTSD after someone found pix of you on a stolen phone and posted them on a "married swingers" website.
Or that you're in a witness protection program and can't allow photos because certain parties who must not be named must not get so much as a hint of your whereabouts or even your existence.
Or tell her you'll be happy to model her handiwork if she agrees to pay you your usual modeling fee of $425 per shoot or $350 per image, whichever is higher.

I'm a woman with the money to buy the highest end wig they have. I don't do it often, about once every 5-7 years. Back in the day, I went to a wig store to buy. It wasn't in my city, and they didn't know me. It was worlds away from the experience I see on some instagram posts, where the woman is literally wisping all the strands into place and playing with the hair and clearly trying to make the woman beautiful.
I think these days you have to be an influencer for the top people to care about you and your service. I guess I'm always shocked when I plunk down over 5K (I'm due for another wig and I"m hearing 6k is now standard!) for something and I don't get like, I don't know, a birthday cake and someone on a microphone announcing my exit and hugs and kisses on my way out. At least.
Don't go to anyone on instagram, is my new motto. Go to people who rely on word of mouth.

This. This. This.
(and this is true not only in the beauty industry. I have NEVER yet been happy with a product that I bought because I saw someone promoting it on Instagram. Whether it was food or an item.)

Do they behave differently with the clients who purchase super expensive wigs?
When I had excellent insurance I was treated like royalty at every doctor's and specialist's visit. Oh the moment I turned into a pumpkin and came as a Medicaid patient, their demeanor changed 360. btdt.

My shaitel macher is a doll. And I’ve only once spent $2300 on a wig. The rest were always under $2000.

I had a bad experience by one very snobby shaitel macher. I went to her on the recommendation of a relative and she right away gave me attitude like she had no time for me but I stuck it out figuring I need to give her a fair chance. Well she made it obvious she didn't want me as a customer, I have yet to understand why. It was a few days before a relatives simcha and she literally ignored my calls about when I could bring the shaitel to get it styled. By a miracle I found someone else who by chance was available and I've never looked back.

THANK YOU OP FOR BRINGING THIS UP!!!
I thought I was the only one out there with this issue. So many sheitel machers are truly snobby.
They treat you like your not worthy just because your wig is a bit outdated.
I once went to someone who is huge on instagram and in real life, she had a real attitude. I literally came home crying because I shelled out big bucks and all she did was stick my wig in a bun and tell me, "I'm not sure what else you want". And then she posts these glamourous updos that she does.
It's just upsetting that these sheitel machers are still so popular.

Most of that 5k is going straight to the wig company. The SM only earns a fraction of that.

I just remembered another story of a snobby shaitel macher. I sent a relative to a shaitel macher who's supposed to be top of the line. She did a disgusting job and when I called to complain she very reluctantly "fixed" it. I then heard back that I had the guts to send someone with a very old wig to her. It was totally beneath her dignity that eeewwwww she had to wash and set a very old wig. Shaitel macher dear, you shouldn't have charged her your full price if you never planned on doing a good job. In fact, you could've just said sorry no can do.

I just need to mention that Pori Kahn in Lakewood is a sheitel macher who has known to be tops tops, yet she treated me with my frumpy sheitel like a queen. She really has my respect. That's the way people should treat their clients.
