According to google the condition of craving ice is called PICA.
Usually the person has an iron deficiency, anemia or a mental health issue. Who knows???

I'm actually looking now at the Ninja blender which is on Black Friday sale and it says that it crushes ice well.

My son earned the slush machine for collecting tzedaka for one of the organizations on Purim. It works very well. Buy what you find on Amazon. Our fridge has an ice maker with an option for crushed ice. My kids pour the crushed ice into the slush machine and it turns into slush.
I live in Brookhill if you’re that desperate 😛.

But I don’t believe that’s true for pregnant people! I know many pregnant and nursing moms who crave ice, myself included, and was not due to low iron just hormones!!!

what you need is a snow cone machine. you can get one anywhere online, or most local kitchenware stores. db electronics should have one. keep a stock of ice cubes in your freezer, and make slush as you need it.

Try crushed ice with a hand blender. The texture is great and it might do the trick for now. Plain slush is usually not just ice it has sugar and other stuff in it

Get the ninja blender.
We use it to make smoothies and it crushes the ice cubes perfectly

Lol that’s not what OBs say. What makes it pica is frequency, intensity, and duration. If one is obsessed to the point where they’re eating ice instead of a meal or real food, that’s when it’s pica. If someone happens to enjoy ice and want it, it’s a stretch to call it pica. That is how it’s medically defined, and let’s leave it to her doctor instead of being armchair physicians here.

Ninja crushes ice really well.
When I’m preg I crave ice - I also have really low iron. I’ve bought slush makers in past when preg go out of desperation.

J2 South has a serve yourself slush machine where you choose be flavor syrup to add. You Just do it without adding flavor. Thought of you.

I just saw a thread mentioning ice cravings in pregnancy indicating low iron and remembered I never updated y'all last year.

Shortly after I created this thread (and ended up buying the Ninja blender to make my own plain slush) I realized that I had switched prenatals a few weeks earlier and had never checked the new one's iron levels. It turned out that the new prenatal did not have iron!! I switched to another prenatal containing iron and the ice cravings went away.
