I've been getting it since I'm a baby. It's recurrent. Sometimes, I need antibiotics for it and sometimes it goes away with Bactroban. It's awful and looks really bad on an adult (I usually get it near my mouth).

My dr. recommended L Lysine as a preventative...

Following for more ideas.... I would love to get rid of it forever

My 4 year old is prone to it. He’s been on oral antibiotics several times when it gets really bad. After a while bactroban stops working because they build up resistance to it. Ask your doctor for a cream called Altabax, it usually clears it up within a couple days

My kids have been on multiple rounds of oral antibiotics already. Toddler and preschooler keep getting if. For baby, does’t even seem to bother him much until it spreads, but preschooler goes mad from it.

What is Mr. Cream?
Any suggestions? It just keeps returning!
My kids have also had recurring impetigo the past few months. It’s crazy to me because they never got it at all until this year and now they’ve gotten it a few times. They were totally cleared up and then got it again!

Here’s what I’m using (found it on Amazon and so far so good)

I wonder if one of them keeps catching it from school and then bringing it back in the house. Check the links I posted because that way you avoid giving antibiotics again. But it won’t prevent them from getting it.

So the links are preventative, or as a cure?
Thanks

A cure. Not preventative.

My doctor recently told me that if you put a little mupirocin on a qtip and swab it in both nostrils it will help keep the fungus that is causing the impitigo and prevent it from recurring. Haven't tried it myself

I’m surprised no one mentioned this yet.
I asked my doctor if there were any alternatives to try before going on antibiotics, he told me to wash with hibicleanse every night. It worked like a charm. https://www.amazon.com/gp/prod.....48258

Thanks all! Just ordered a bunch of those products.
Is the cleanser preventative? Or to heal?

That sounds odd to me. And my kids impetigo is bacterial. I thought all impetigo is.

She means bacteria not fungus.
I've heard that too, also for MRSA carriers.

The bacteria gets in through the nose? Interesting. Maybe it would prevent then.

Bactroban in the nose is for mrsa decolonization. Impetigo afaik is usually caused by Strep or MRSA bacteria.
I don’t have personal experience with impetigo, but we did have kids colonized with MRSA in the past and found adding tea tree oil to the bath very helpful.
Bh kid has not tested positive on MRSA screening in a few years.
