Basically I fell in love with this sheitel by my sheitel macher. The color was not mine, too light for me. The Sheitel macher told me she will get it rooted (put in darker highlights so it will suit me better). Will this last or will I have to repeat the rooting? Am I just better off getting a darker sheitel to begin with?

depends, do you like everything else about the sheitel? how long have you been looking? have you bought from her before/trust her?
how much do you want/need a new sheitel?
if I really like the sheitel and trust the sheitel macher then yes I would go for it
many sheitels need tweaking
sometimes low lights are better than trying to find a darker base
case by case
how much hair is truly virgin hair unprocessed these days to begin with as well
rooting can look gorgeous
then yes you can redo the rooting in about a year or so
what does your SM say?
does she agree and stand behind the product/sheitel? do a good job rooting?
