Except- you mention your current boss doesn't give raises. Does the new job have more potential? |
my baby will be in a playgroup that I anyway have to pay for on fridays (flat fee every month. she cant go to drop off anymore because she is too old). so I might as well work if im paying for fridays. but on the other hand I love my fridays with her
what do u mean by potential?
I want to work for the doe one day. or make aliyah

now you've got me curious.
If they pay you $750 a month for half day fridays.
what are you earning per month for full days? M-Th? Sounds like your earn 60K a 10 month year working 4 days a week. - which granted is not amazing but its also not "so bad"..

In my opinion stick to your current job. Flexibility is an amazing thing

From the way OP is describing her job, she probably only gets paid per therapy session. So no pay for chagim, off days (which Jewish schools have a ton of), student absences etc. Very unlikely that she comes out with 60k for a 10 month school year (I work in the field as well and don't think I ever came out with that much)

I hear. So what's the relevance of Friday morning Shabbos parties to therapy sessions?

Yes its a very lucrative career. He has people calling him and hes booked for the next 2 weeks.
Its a steady income since he works for a company that always gives him jobs.
At my job now I have the option to come fridays. Its a very chilled day bc of shabbos party, and if I work fridays its an extra 800$ a month. So now if Im already thinking of working fridays, should I change my life and move to this new job thats in a non jewish school? |
Being a contractor for a company and having jobs booked for the next 2 weeks is not considered steady income. That's what I thought.
If you can add Fridays to your current job, that sounds like a good idea.
Additional income + same environment.

Honestly I'm not really sure myself. Maybe OP can explain. I always worked Fridays and Shabbos party was never relevant to my sessions

Oh ok. I don't think there's anything wrong with push in sessions though. I do it myself for various reasons

Why? It's normal for a school-based therapist to do some push in. If you work in a clinic, then all of your sessions will be in a therapy room. But working as part of a school environment means that sometimes you need to do push in because you have to accommodate the teachers.

I guess bc we struggle (hopefully past tense struggled!) financially alot of the burden of parnassa has been on my shoulders.
I kind of want to work less and let the onus be on my husband more. especially since he works everyday except shabbos
