I can I use canned chickpeas? If not how would I prepare it with raw chick peas?
Anyone with a tried and true recipe?

I’ve gotten a similar taste with canned chickpeas, sugar, salt, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Didn’t use any measurements, just to taste.
If you use dry chickpeas, soak for 24hrs and then do the same thing. Maybe need to add a bit more spices than if using canned

So for the first, you just rinsed and drained the can and played around with the spices?

I drain and rinse canned chickpeas, and then drizzle with oil and zaatar (Trader Joes) and then bake it for about 20 minutes, for a roasted/flavored taste. I imagine you could do similar with any flavorings/spice that you like.

You can use canned chickpeas but it needs extra seasoning since it wasn't cooked with it. Sugar, salt and red pepper flakes (more sugar than you'd think if you'd like it to taste like the Golden Taste version).
Drain the canned chickpeas in a colander over the sink. Rinse and drain again. Toss with seasonings to taste. Let sit for a bit and then taste and adjust seasonings again.

Rinse and drain can chickpeas. Heat tbsp of oil per can used snd add one clove of minced garlic per can used and fry for just a minute to release flavour but not burn. Add chickpeas and 1/4 tsp smoked paprika and 1/4 tsp salt per can and fry till throughly heated through, around 3 minutes. Taste very good to snack on.
