For the rest of the population, a cotton shirtdress in the summer is a staple and a classic. They are sold in every store in all lengths. For frum people, they are „a trend“ and may go out of style.

I wear polyester even through the Israeli summer Hiding

Living on a budget and shopping on Shein makes that kind of inevitable.
My trick: I try to choose items that fit loosely under my arms, with airspace, not skin-tight.
That is okay as long as I don't have to walk long distances outside in the midday sun with heavy loads.

I dont sweat, since I wear driclor under my arms, but its everywhere else also.

Its a shamr to wear dresses that are davka not made for the heat.

No. Cotton and polyester are types of materials.

Whether the material is knit (like underwear or sweaters) or woven (like dress shirts or tablecloths) is a different issue. That has to do with how the threads are joined together to make a flat piece of fabric.

Knits are more clingy, woven fabrics are stiffer. This is true whether they are cotton or polyester or wool or dacron etc.

Just found a couple of sweathshirts that are cotton, same with all my underwear is and other things I have a mix.

How does a mix of cotton and polyester do in the heat?

For the sake of not sweating, you just need to find things with high percentage of cotton, that may be woven or knitted.

I find that cotton clothing retains stains and needs to be ironed.

They make polyester much better than they did in the old days, and it often feels breathable to me. Polyester is much more likely to wash well and look good without any ironing.

I also find that woven fabric causes me to sweat in my underarms MUCH more than a stretchy knit, due to the discomfort of the stiff fabric that doesn’t mold to my movements.

Everyone finds different things comfortable, even in the heat!

Camellia, don't feel bad that you don't know. My daughter worked in a children's dress shop last year, and many many young women came in and didn't really know. When they said that they wanted airy cool dresses for their little girls, my daughter would show them a few cotton things. And then they would say oh no, and show her a floaty polyester dress and say can you show me more like this. I think some people are just not sensitive to the fabric. But I tend to sweat a lot, and while I do buy polyester for winter, I am more careful to look for cotton for the summer. And so my daughter picked this up from me and now she's particular as well.

I agree about cotton shirt material, this is the reason why I own a lot of summer clothes- I know that ironing will take a while and I cannot wear one dress or blouse for more than one day.
However the make stretchy jersey out of cotton or silk and it definitely molds to anything
