Hi ladies, DC is only a year old but DH and I want to start teaching accountability in an age-appropriate way as soon as possible so that when DC is older s/he will be able to do it more naturally. Would greatly appreciate any and all tips from experienced posters! Thank you all!

Expect responsible behavior.
Don't excuse all misbehavior as "normal".
It is normal if you don't insist on responsible behavior.
Most Kids are not naturally responsible, it must be taught.

Relax, enjoy your cutie, deal with issues as they come up in a gentle, non-labeling kind of way with natural age appropriate consequences

Make time for clean up game. Before she's tired, sing a clean up song, pick up toys , encourage her to pick up too ( she may do one or two or none)...
If you do it consistently and not just wait until she's sleeping to clean up, as she gets older, you sing the song and she'll start doing more on her own. Remember, no pressure, only praise and fun.
