I have several children, the oldest 3 of which are boys. My oldest son in mesivta officially gets supper there but it isn't enough and he comes home starving every night. My other two, in 8th and 6th grade, won't touch the school lunches and come home ready to pounce. Are there any budget friendly meal ideas that work for teen boys? My 8th grader doesn't particularly like chicken cutlets in any case.

Chopped meat is your friend.
Tacos, sloppy joes, meat lasagna, meatballs.....

Spaghetti or chili seem like obvious choices

Load em up on starches, teen boys are bottomless pits for starches. Kugel, sandwiches, beans, riceā€¦ ofcourse they need protein and fat as well but starches will keep them full for longer.

I find a lot is perception of what seems cool. Like tacos can be be budget friendly but my kids think its a fun dinner especially if I make taco Tuesday. They get a kick out of it. I make pulled chicken with bbq sauce or chinese style like lo mein or fried rice. All use pretty reasonable ingredients but seem to give off a this is different factor that my kids find appealing.
