Too late at night for my dh to ask a rav. Until then...
I asked dh for the milchig betty crocker. I was making fish sticks. He figured fish sticks are parve and he ended up bringing me the fleishig betty. I'm guessing because that's what he pulled out first (yes, one is labeled milchig but we keep them in the same place and I wasn't looking before I started cooking)
Either ways, when I finished cooking the fish sticks I made French toast (with milk). I worked really hard and it was very time consuming.
After dh cleaned the betty tonight, he mentioned to me it was the fleishig betty.
1. Is the betty crocker treif now? Wasn't use for fleishigs in a few days
2. What about the milchig plate I used to put the French toast on?
3. What about the French toast itself? I worked so hard on it, I still want to give it to my kids

I'm so frustrated at dh now. This is what I have to deal with on a daily basis. Living with a dh that doesn't think twice before doing something.

It's not so simple. You'll have to ask a rav.

I'd change the thread title to "How treif did my DH make this."

Do you wash it with soap? I’m not sure how it is cleaned

Speak to a rov. Call one in a later timezone or call tomorrow morning.

In the future, your betty crockers should be different colors and in different cabinets.

I’m not a rabbi but based on the fact that you don’t clean it with soap I don’t think you can eat it or kasher it. I’m not sure about the plate. I may totally be wrong, and I’m sorry!

Guilt is not an option here. It wasn’t on purpose

And stop blaming dh, we all have different strengths. Ok, he was spaced out, it’s really ok! Ask a shaila and move on

The food should have been fine as the bliyos were pagum from it being a non ben yomo.

You probably have a big issue with the Betty Crocker itself now but please speak to a rav.

Oysh, my sympathies.

How should you have known? You asked for the milchig one!

What did the Rov say?

When I'm in a crazy situation like this I can get overwhelmed with guilt. I find that if I can do something concrete it gets me past it. So as suggested above, designating specific and separate areas for storage, clearly labeling the different appliances (in case it happens again, you'd see right away).

Also, if the Rov paskens treif, I would make a big deal with my kids how I worked so hard and so long making this yummy looking French toast but BH realized before serving it that it's not kosher and now we have the privilege to of doing what's right by throwing it out even though it's hard. And now we're making some changes (as above) so this mistake won't easily happen again...

To me it shows the kids that it's normal to mess up but there are ways to fix things even if it's hard...
