I used to get angry very quickly and probably screamed more than I should have. I have been working on myself over the years and think I’m much, much better. When a friend of my daughters (late teens) came, I was extremely insulted when she said I yell a lot. She comes from a home that she’s the youngest and her parents work full time, they’re barely home.

No one wants their dirty laundry aired in front of others, whether it’s common or not.

and I just want to say this
Adults can learn how to speak appropriately in all situations
if they didnt learn yet - they should start now
there really is no excuse for not eradicating or at least minimizing screaming
screaming is an inacceptable form of communication unless there is immediate danger |
It definitely can be controlled if we choose to control it.
For instance would someone not be able to control themselves from doing the same screaming, if they knew their boss or their Rov was in the room?

My father is a screamer. My mom was one too. I scream sometimes and BH I've gotten SO MUCH BETTER over the years with a lot of work.
My dad loves to say that his mother never screamed. His sister says what she did was worse than screaming. She'd talk to you in a honey sweet voice, like Michelle Duggar and Deloris Umbridge. I'd much rather the screaming.
