My son currently takes 1mg of guanfacine every day. It’s been helping for the hyperactivity but not for attention and focus. He can’t pay attention for more than a minute or two in class. Dr is recommending 5mg or Ritalin in addition to the guanfacine. Has anyone done this?

Most people take it with a stimulant. My son took it with Straterra but its unusual to do two non stimulants together.

Same. He's been doing well with this combo. My son did not react well to Ritalin at all but every kid is different.

My son take guanfacine and metheylphenidate every day. Doing well bh!

One kid does 2 mg guanfacine ER plus 36 mg methylphenidate ER. One kid does 2 mg guanfacine plus 30 mg vyvanse.
So both are on guanfacine plus a stimulant. Both started on guanfacine alone.

How much guanfacine is he taking? I would increase that first personally. My daughter is 12 and takes 2.5 mg. We tried stimulants and the side effects were terrible. You didn't mention age.

Both my boys are on a combo of guanfacine plus stimulant. It doesn’t do much on its own.
