You're young, so you might not remember this, but Ross Perot when he ran for President, gave speeches with flip charts (this was before the days of Powerpoint!).
Now that was cool!
The graphs on those flip charts made confusing topics like minimum wage, taxation, and other economic issues much more understandable for the average person, and that worked for him! He was a highly successful independant candidate who grabbed something like 15 % of the vote (I know I don't remember that exactly, I would welcome a correction.)
