if a child has ADD are you supposed to hold them responsible for the actions that are a result of the disorder?

for example if a child is impulsive and hurting other kids because of this, how much should they be reprimanded?

if a child can not sit still when overstimulated should there be a consequence?

etc etc

I think the answer is yes and no.
They need to see consequences of actions but they need more leeway.

my son has adhd but I decided not to medicate. He is doing much much better now. What I think helped more then anything else is really trying to discipline as little as possible and try to build him as much as possible. (he has a very low self esteem like many adhd kids)

I will not tolerate him hurting my other kids and in that case either put him in his room or literally hold him down so he cannot hurt them.

I'm the amother above and ds is adhd
I guess it depends on how bad - but it's not fair to the child to be like that without properly taking care of it.
