anyone know what he advises in general? I have an appt before YK so I will ask then, but I was just wondering if he has a 'shittah' across the board. (I will be 6 mos preg and have been having minor complications in the pregnancy- hematoma bleeding)

No I don't think so. I consulted him when I was pg with my youngest (though I was using a midwife for the delivery) and he was very sensible about conditions under which he thought I must not fast, and in the absence of which symptoms I should be fine. I then spoke to R' Forscheimer about what Dr. Giovine said, and he was in complete agreement and gave a psak based on it.
I should add that that particular pg was 6 years after my previous live birth with lots of tensions...and I was very comfortable with his opionion and support. And I wasn't even delivering with him (but had consulted with him throught the years when I needed an OB vs a midwife or specialist) and he made the time for me nevertheless.
