I just want to do the right thing. We had guests over shabbos who stripped the bed. I'm having my MIL sleep over tonight so I had to wash the sheets right away. I threw all of the sheets and towels into the wash, not really searching through them because they're sheets, right? Anyway, while switching them to the dryer I found the guests had left their shabbos clock in the sheets.
There aren't any numbers on it anymore, so I'm assuming it's dead. Should I buy them a new one?

They are probably looking through their stuff now for it (or will be in four days), so I'd call and let them know. I'd offer to get them a new one but it would be chutzphadik on their part if they actually took you up on the offer.

Call and let them know. Apologize. Only offer to buy them one if you are willing to and won't resent it forever and ever. I've offered things like that and been angry when people took me up on the offer.

its their fault if the stripped the beds without noticing the clock. They were careless, not you. There is no reasion for you to check the sheets before washing. I don't think the clocks are expensive. Plus, you were hosting them.
I would not offer, unless it was clearly my fault.

I agree with the previous posters that it's not your fault since you did not strip the beds. If it was inside the pile of sheets, you're not obligated to search through the pile (ewwww)
