Which books have you read that actually made you laugh out loud? I'm looking for some funny reading for someone spending time in the hospital.

Thanks in advance! Very Happy

Keith Robertson's Henry Reed books. Laughed so hard I cried. Worth tracking down.

Terry Pratchett's Going Postal. Best Book Ever.

Are all the Henry Reed books comical? Did you read them all?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, keep 'em coming!

My brother had never read secular novels before getting sick, but now we get him Gordon Korman books and he enjoys them. The older ones are much better though. (No Coins Please, Son of Interflux, I Just Want to go Home, Don't Care High, Losing Joe's Place...) You can get them online for cheap.

The Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella is also hilarious, but they are not all clean, and all of them have their share of cursing.

Maybe I have juvenile taste, but I still laugh out loud whenever I read anything by Beverly Cleary.

Gerald Morris has a series of books based on Arthurian legends. Some of them are more juvenile, but most of them are really funny.

Bruno and Boots series are the funniest Gordan Korman books, but he is a children's author.
Mordechai Schmutter is the Jewish Dave Barry and very funny.
What about P.G. Wodehouse?

I second PG Wodehouse - absolutely rated G and truly funny, especially if you get the whole British class system

Yeah, I was thinking of going back and editing because of the off colorness. If I do, will you? ;-) I still stand by Science Fair.
Yes, his non-fiction is really funny.
And Mordechai Schmutter is safe, and also funny.

If you don't care about age level, then Cheaper by the Dozen and Belles on their Toes. Literally LOL books for me, especially Belles on their Toes.

Another vote for Gordon Korman. Even though his books are for kids, I still LOVE them and find them hilarious. It's great, light reading.

I also LOVED Cheaper by the Dozen - read it dozens of times. It never gets old!

If you like PG Wodehouse, you may want to try Saki (H H Munro). I found many of his short stories (which is most of what he wrote) to be really funny, and they're quick reads. Most of his works are available online or can be downloaded to a kindle or kindle app. Some funnier ones that come to mind are The Storyteller, The Open Window, and The Unrest-Cure.
