My baby started grunting and all sorts of other funny noises. Why would that be? What does it mean? That he's content? Uncomfortable? Something else?

If the baby were not content, he'd be crying.
Look, you can't make a big worry about every burp, fart, grunt and kvetch he gives... just relax a bit and you'll both be happier.

I had one that was doing it in her sleep! Could you imagine, she would finally go down for a nap, I still couldn't sleep from all that grunting.

My babies did that too. They sounded like a motor starting up.

Most likely what Mama Bear said...newborns have a tiny airway, and anything can make it stuffy. My son was doing it from day one. The aspirator didn't even fit! We put in some saline drops.
Breastmilk if you can squirt in a couple drops also works wonders!

my baby did it. it was a funny sort of noise, ended up being part of his reflux and when the meds work properly it goes away but when they dont, he does it again, but its more like his esophegus is moaning, so I dont know if I would call it grunting
