Oh, c’mon Fox. You got scared of the other animals in the forest?
Or the hospital staff missed you? They must’ve wanted some fun and wit so enticed you to come back Tongue Out
Feel better, NOW! Like yesterday...

Druscilla, who just finished nursing school, claims it's some kind of conspiracy on the part of my gay Trump-supporting wound care specialist.

When I finished treatment, I got him a bunch of custom-made cookies in the shape of ace bandages, etc. First he called and gushed for 15-20 mins about the cookies and how much fun he'd had treating me. Then he called back the next day to tell me how much his husband loved the cookies and thought it was unfair that he never received cookies like that at his work.

So there is a fair chance that this is all a gambit for more cookies. If I'm told to go to wound care even though I don't have any wounds this time, I'll know it's all about the cookies!

Make sure the cookies are decorated like Louis Vuitton pocketbooks this time. A gay guy will REALLY appreciate that.

I'm so relieved to see you posting, Fox. I was worried. I am worried. Take care of yourself. Promise the wound specialist that you will send him more cookies if you are home than if you are in the hospital.

On the good news front, the infection appears not to have gotten into my blood, so I'll be able to go home a lot sooner.

Now comes mussar for all you young things:

1. Compression stockings during pregnancy and in middle age. The vascular system in our legs starts to go downhill once we turn 20. Pregnancy, especially repeated pregnancies, accelerate this process exponentially. By the time you're 50 or so, your legs are weak links for opportunistic infections. Wearing compression stockings -- usually knee-his -- during pregnancy decreases this degeneration.

2. Don't try to "walk it off, Princess" when you're sick. Most fevers are pretty harmless -- just your body fighting off a virus or something. But if you have a fever that doesn't come down easily with Tylenol, got to your doctor, and Urgent Care Center, or even the ER right away. Part of the reason I'm recovering faster this time is because I didn't wait too long to start antibiotics.

Okay. Rant off.

But be careful about doling out fancy custom-made cookies. Just sayin'!

I was telling him that nearly everyone in our community has these type of cookies for their engagement and various festivities connected with the wedding.

In fact, I told him, there is little-known fine print in Obergefell v. Hodges, added by Justice Ginsberg, that while you can marry whoever you want, the marriage isn't valid unless you have some fancy cookies with your monogram.

He appeared to realize I was joking, but maybe he feels his marriage is tainted by the lack of celebratory cookies.

It's interesting, isn't it, that you can send cookies to a gay medical professional but not a straight one? Reason enough to only go to female and gay medical practitioners. Because sometimes you want to thank doctors, but you can't do it if they're male and straight. (Trust me. I told my mother's palliative care specialist that he was an angel from Heaven, and he walked out of his practice and didn't stop until he was in Arizona.)

This guy helps Fox get better and saves her leg, and that's your reaction?? Let him be. Read Obergefell v. Hodges. Get some gay friends or colleagues. Realize they're people too.

Yes, I know. It's wrong. But how can I get too agitated when people are still forced to take Regent Exams in NY?!
