Any imas here an interior space planner? I and thinking to go into the field but have a few questions.

1. Did you do an online course or go to college?
2. I understand architects hire space planners - does anyone else? Is there any other way to work as one (besides for going on your own)?
3. What is the base salary and what’s the max?
4. Is it a flooded field?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Its a specialty within interior design. All learn it a little, some learn it more and make it their focus.

Not for this, no. For me, this was a long time hobby/passion that has turned into a business. But some interior designers are good space planners.

I have my own business. I get a lot of referrals from a local interior designer and from contractors.

3. What is the base salary and what’s the max?
Not telling, but it has taken me years to work up to where I am now and my business B"H is steadily growing.

4. Is it a flooded field?
Maybe in some places. H' has given me gifts — I'm really good at this — so it's not a flooded field for me.

Thanks for responding!

Rubber Ducky, I have a passion for space planning but I always thought I need to take a course first and get hired before I go out on my own.

You’re saying I don’t necessarily have to go that route?

I'm self-taught, but if you're young, an AA degree in interior design would be a good idea.

You need to master a 3D CAD program. I model using Sketchup Pro.
