If they say USE by (date), then you have no pitchon peh. If they say SELL by (date) or BEST BEFORE (date), then you do. “Use by” means exactly that: use by this date and have no expectation that it will be usable a day later. If it’s still good later, mazal tov, you won the lottery. “Sell by” means you can expect it to be good for some reasonable period of time after that. For fresh greens, maybe a couple of days if stored properly. “Best before” means it will still be safe to use after that date, but flavor, texture and appearance may have suffered.

IME those plastic bags are death to fresh greens. They foster little puddles in which germs can happily swim around and obey pru urevu, effectively reducing the lifespan of your veggies AND creating a threat to your health. The best thing to do with bagged greens is to open the bag, rinse the greens in plenty of water, drain, and store in a container or a clean, dry bag with layers of absorbent material like cloth or paper towels.
