I've been married for close to two decades and I never had my diamond ring inspected. I just went for the first time to have someone look at it and the lady there did recommend building up the prongs because they were very worn out.
She also said I should not sleep with the diamond ring on. I told her I never take it off! (I didn't say this but I do everything in my rings including needing dough, except I take it off for mikvah).
She said that it can wear the ring out faster that way. I'm afraid I wouldn't have a safe place to put it or that I wouldn't always remember to put it on in the morning.
Thoughts?

I've been doing the same as you for over 20 years as well. I never take mine off either not even for needing dough. That way I don't have to take it off to wash. I don't think I'm about to start now. But thank you for the reminder It's probably the idea to get the prongs checked.

No. I take it off every night. I don’t shower with it.
I take it off before cooking- not sanitary otherwise. I assume you wear gloves.

I don't wear mine since my finger expanded with pregnancy :-( but when I did, I always took mine off at night. I can't sleep with jewelry on, not even earrings. I need to be unencumbered.

I wash my hands often when I cook. why wouldn't the ring get clean when I wash my hands?

Same. I never take it off.
2 tiny diamond studs did fall out from the setting at one point, because the prongs between them broke.
It broke from snagging in something though.

I never wear my ring in the house. In fact the only piece of jewelry I wear in the house is my earrings. Otherwise my jewelry wouldn’t look as nice. Rings definitely get worn out and/or ruined faster if you wear it while cooking and cleaning.

I can't sleep wearing jewelry. My earrings and ring(s) must be off. When I am so tired that I forget, I will toss and turn or only sleep briefly and not be able to get back to sleep until I realize I'm still wearing them and take them off.

I cannot imagine this.
I very often hate wearing a ring in general.
My rings come off along with the sheitel, tights and other things that bother me.

My diamond would tear through a glove.

What if you turn the ring inward?

I clean my ring now and then using an old toothbrush. Yes, I came up with this hack by myself and it works well. Let me know if someone has a better one.

That's another reason why I wouldn't want to wear it to knead dough...thinking ahead to Pesach time.
I know strict people who kasher their wedding band before pesach and just don't wear their engagement ring at all over pesach.

Maybe you should buy them a set of Pesach cutlery 😆

?
I do understand their concern. If you are handling pesach pots or cutlery while wearing a ring that was kneading chametz dough, it really may be a concern, especially when things get hot or you are washing them with hot water.
Personally I take off rings while I knead, but for those that don't, they may want to ask if there is a problem come Pesach time.
