I hear you OP and I have both friends and family that live like you do. And sometimes I wonder if I'm the crazy one.
They just spend as needed, they don't calculate and it all works out somehow. They live for the now, not in a crazy affluent way but in a enjoy today kind of way. I've heard people say that when they made it all make sense on paper they started having less or more emergencies.
I'm too anxious to not save, but you aren't alone in your thinking.
