Looking for kosher books (don’t have to be Jewish) that are enjoyable for a girl grades 2-5. She says she likes mysteries (but nothing remotely scary). I have bought her a number of Jewish books and she enjoys them but honestly $25 for each book gets quite expensive and many nonjewish paperbacks go for $5….

We don’t want any references to nonJewish dating or holidays

Try used book sites like Abe Books. You can get Jewish used books for as low as $7. I think I once posted a thread with search links for Jewish books on used book sites.

The Wizard of Oz series, at least the first fourteen books authored by Frank Baum, the original author. One of the later books has "Saint Nick" as a minor character, but very minor IIRC.

Use kosherbooks.org top see which books are appropriate for your standards.

Do you have libraries near you? I don't buy books. We go to public library and school library

I was going to suggest kosherbooks. I think they do it by genre.

Jewish books:
Bubby Karp
Freidele Galya Soban Biniashvili has a few books, check her out on Menucha
Ellen Roteman has a kids' detective series on Menucha too
Has she read PJ Pepperjay? Not a mystery but fun
Menucha Glick's Bentzi books
No time to think of more. There are so many. You can check out Menucha books.

I know, Jewish books are expensive. Do you have any Jewish libraries around?
