Op, why do I sense so much hostility in your post? Please MYOB.
I don’t question your $300 dress you bought when I don’t spend more than $70, you don’t question my budgeting decisions.
Seriously, why does this bother you? Are you jealous that people don’t cry about a $65 ticket?

Imas:

There cant be 20 people on each block with emergencies.

This is pure negligence (or knowing how to get out of paying tickets).

Isnt there an issue of Bittul Mamon?

Correct me if no such issue exists.

Or they decided it's cheaper to pay for the tickets 4 times a year when they happen to be home Thursday morning than to rent a parking space.

Cut it out. Everyone chooses where to spend their money. It doesn’t affect you in any way. Live and let live.

There's no way to really get out of the alternate side parking ticket. I guess they just figured they would rather get the ticket than move the car. Who cares what people do? Just do you!!

You aren’t giving up. It was explained to you a couple of times yet you keep judging and counting everyone’s money. Seriously, how does it affect you?

it's not more expensive than paying for monthly parking at a parking garage.
Same with parking meters- so you get a 35 dollar fine, so what! Parking at a garage for the day would cost about that much.

I used to get upset about this too, until I reframed it for myself:

The cost of having a car includes daily street parking fee $35,
Running red lights: $50 each
Camera speeding tickets: $50

If I want to SAVE myself these expenses, I can pay the meter, not pass red lights, not speed.

If y'have the money, and don't want the headache of all these rules, then do as you please and pay the fines. Nobody really cares, The city wants your money, it's as simple as that.

Not every time you park illegally do you get a ticket, so if you divide all the ticket price with all the times you got away with it, it's basically just a couple of dollars for a parking spot which is a very reasonable price Wink. At least that's how we see it.

Theres a source in Sefarim (Im not getting this out of my hat), that say that when you get embarrassed to hope for something that you really want/need.

Maybe others know where this comes from.

Where I live, there is a 99% chance of getting an alternate side ticket. We're careful about it. But it's a pretty big stress and I could understand people who just would rather pay the tickets, especially if they are not guaranteed to get one every single time

I thought alternate side parking is $60 these days and something the DOT will slap a sticker on your window that is almost impossible to remove and it's really annoying

So the real deal is that on yt traffic police are a bit more lenient around here and people rely on that, hoping that they won't get a ticket... It's more like a 50 50 chance rather than the usual 99...
