My DC , age 10, has strep. We went to an urgent care who perscribed 10 ml of amoxicillin twice daily.
Does that number sound correct or too high?

My dc almost age 10 is taking 5ml cefadroxil twice a day . I see it's 500 mg

So does that mean his dose is too high? Its 400 suspension per 5ml.
I called his dr office but they are closed until tomorrow.

1) don’t compare dosing of one abx to the other
2) what’s his weight
3) there’s a spectrum of dosing and some will do higher/lower end of the dosing.

Right that's why I wrote which medication and mg . It's different for each medication

Dont think so- if he weighs 70 lbs that is around 32 kg. If you calculate that times 50 mg you get close to 1600 mg a day.
I’m not a doctor, so by all means confirm correct dosage with your pediatrician tom. But also, if he does take a higher dose the first day nothing will happen, and at least he’ll be able to go back to yeshiva tomorrow.

Some doctors like to dose really high with amoxicillin. Call the pharmacy to ask.

My 7yo is currently taking 7.5ml twice daily amoxicillin, so that sounds right.

That’s a normal dose. PA student here but lots of experience working in pediatrics.

Sounds normal. My Ds who is abt. 50 lbs was prescribed 7.5 ml twice a day.
