I have an opportunity to get a Roomba, the issue is that I have little kids who constantly leave things everywhere. While I'd love help with the sweeping, will the Roomba just go around the stuff on the floor or does it learn not to go where stuff was if it was moved the next time?

If it’s not there it will vacuum that spot but you need to clear the floor if you want it vacuumed well.
Definitely vacuum’s better than any regular sweeping.
