I wouldn't go to Lancaster in the winter. There isn't much to do there in the winter. Most places are outdoors and closed for the season.

Yes, those are indoors and that's just about it that's indoors. (I'd check the hours before going.) Besides for the typical trampoline park, softplay, arcades which you don't need to travel till Lancaster for.

The ice cream museum is pretty small. Maybe good for about 2 hours.

We go to Lancaster every summer, and I would love to try it once in the winter. It must be so beautiful.

We have gone to Hands on House, it was really fun

Other indoor places we have gone to are Choo Choo Barn and National Toy Train Museum.

We plan on going to Lancaster Science Factory this summer.

Also, there are some Amish places where you can do nice crafts, like making dolls or wooden toys.
I don't know any offhand, but if you stop at a visitor center along the way you can look for brochures.

We stayed at the Double Tree hotel (2400 Willow Street Pike, Lancaster, PA 17602).
Very nice place with decent prices.
We did the Amish tour, but not sure what their schedule is in the winter.

ETA- we did the civil war museum in Harrisburg. It's a drive, but totally worth it for older kids/adults.

Sounds lovely to me!
Last time we went to Lancaster we also went bowling. It was way cheaper than in NY area so was a treat for us we rarely go at home.

I was there and I don't think there was one. The doubletree in Lancaster is supposed to have this. Maybe check both places to verify.

If you're doing a bunch of small things and don't mind a drive, the American helicopter museum is about 45 minutes away from Herrs. Its in West Chester PA. In the vicinity there is also Longwood Gardens, if your family goes for that.
