Wow you can be nice!
A nickname doesn't have to be shorter.
Esti is the same amount of syllables as Esther, just like Chani and Chana, Rivky and Rivka, and a million other nicknames.
I agree that Shalom is beautiful on its own, and I don't love any of the nickname options.
But you don't have to call it dumb.

I love the name Sholom. The meaning and sound is beautiful. That said, my son's nickname for endearment purposes is Shuse (pronounced shoes Very Happy

). Was never the plan, it just happened and outside of the house he's still Sholom.

We called my brother Shu, cuz the baby couldn’t pronounce the full name, and it stuck.

Nickname for Shalom
is either:

Shali (pronounced Shuh [as in ‘up’] Lee)

Or

Shuli (pronounced Shu [as in ‘push’] Lee. Not like the girls nickname for Shulamis which is Shuli pronounced Shoo Lee)

If you’re chassidish and pronounce it Shulem- Shuli is a boys name. I know a Sholi- but it’s from Shaul.

We have a lot of Meshulams in our family and they are all called Shuli.
I lovee the name Shalom and have a nephew with that name, we never shortened it.
But you can always call him whatever you like.
I know people with nicknames that have nothing to do with their actual name.
